Terry Reynolds ran today’s meeting.
The minutes of the November 11, 2004 meeting were reviewed. The minutes
were approved.
Terry Reynolds handed out the Treasurer’s report which showed that the
FVPL had $16,515.10 as of January 11, 2005. The Treasurer’s
report was approved.
A. Book Sale
The book sale will be held April 5-6, 2005.
We discussed having a work bee to sort, price, and box books. We
will have a work bee on Thursday, January 27 from 4-6 pm at 309A/B
Chemical Sciences building. Faith Morrison will ask facilities to
provide us with 3-4 tables for the work bee.
We decided not to send a notice out to collect more books at this time
because we need to process the ones we have in storage first. We
will send out a notice for more books after the work bee.
B. Winter Carnival Hot
Chocolate Feb12-13th
We discussed having hot chocolate, books, and etc. in the library again
at Winter Carnival. We decided not to have a hot chocolate table
this year in the library because the current entrance to the library is
not near a traffic pattern.
C. Fleece or other Blanket Options
We discussed blanket options. Terry Reynolds told us that it
would take 10-12 weeks to do a blanket similar to our current blanket
and that there would be a $250 “cover fee”. We did not make a
decision about a new blanket or other fund raising item. Terry
Reynolds requested that if someone finds something that they are
enthused about having as our fundraising item that they prepare a
proposal for the board to review.
D. Econo Slip Collections
Mary Marchaterre reported that we currently have about $8,500 in Econo
receipts. Last year at this time we had about $16,000 in
receipts. During the meeting, Faith Morrison sent a request to
Tech Topics to include a notice for collecting Econo receipts for the
FVPL. (The free wireless in the library works!)
E. Book cart
The Treasurer’s report showed that our approximate book cart sales to
date are about $260, which is well below our collections at this point
last year. The book cart is loaded up right now.
F. Construction Update
Phyllis Johnson gave us an update of the library construction.
Phyllis expects that the construction will be done by the end of
February. The library dedication will be on April 29, 2005.
The meeting adjourned at 4:55 pm.
The next meeting will be held on Thursday, February 3, 2005, 4-5:00 pm,
in room 236 of the library.
