Thursday, May 02, 2002
Present: Terry Reynolds, Dee Vincent, George Love, Kim Hoagland, Amy Hughes, Dana Richter, Theresa Spence
Absent: Gail Mroz, Karen Hubbard, Faith Morrison, Udaya Kalluri, Phyllis Johnson, Paul Munsterman, Peck Cho, June Hawthorne
Dee Vincent called the meeting to order at 4 pm; action items are in bold. We did not have a quorum, so no decisions were finalized.
The minutes of the April 4, 2002 meeting were reviewed and approved
The treasurer's report dated May 1, 2002 was reviewed and approved. Terry also distributed a report of the book sales revenues for the years 1998 through 2002. Our revenue from the 2002 book sale was $1,637.15 after sales tax. We also had $315.00 of revenue from membership renewals made at the sale.
Library Projects: Theresa Spence reported on the library projects proposed by the library staff. Theresa Spence, Ellen Seidel, Mark Bronson, Pauline Moore, and Eric Nordberg met to review the proposals. They whittled the proposals down to 2 proposals that they believe are the most worthy of support at this time. One is the proposal for new chairs in the Archives, and the other is for hiring a Library Intern. Theresa said that because of the limited current library staff, it would not be prudent to try to hire an intern for summer 2002. They would be interested in hiring someone for the summer of 2003. The list of ideas was:
Wish List For Friends
A. Public color copier for
student presentations and maps (possible library match for ongoing costs)
B. Public scanner (possible
library match for ongoing costs)
C. Overhead scanner and color
printer for ILL/DD (possible library match for ongoing costs)
D. New chairs for user seating
in Archives
E. Summer Internship (3mo.)

We discussed funding the proposal for new chairs in the Archives. We decided to solicit a vote via email from the FVPL board members for approval for funding this request.
BOOK SALE: We discussed how the recent book sale went and discussed ideas for improvements for the next book sale. Ideas for the next book sale were:
Newsletter: We discussed the last newsletter. We sent out about 300 newsletters.
The Einerlei is out of FVPL note cards. We should also make sure that they get some copies of the poster that show all of the note cards.
Dee Vincent said that Karen Hubbard received a nice note from one of Joe Romig's daughters thanking us for the mention in the FVPL newsletter and for the copy of the newsletter sent to them.
The next meeting will be September 5, 2002, 4-5:00pm in room 309 of the J. Robert Van Pelt Library.
