The Treasurer’s report was approved.

A.  2008 Book Sale April 3rd and 4th
Eloise has initiated lots of publicity for the Book Sale.  Eloise will send an article about the book sale to the Lode.
The bag sale will be from 3:30 – 4:30 pm on Friday, April 4, 2008, and the bag price will be $5.  We have several
work bees planned.  Eloise will contact Tau Beta Phi, and Faith will contact SIS about helping out with the book sale.
We discussed the up-coming book sale and our meetings and came up with the following schedule:
Thursday, February 7, 2008           4 pm FVPL Meeting
Saturday, February 9, 2008           11 am – 3 pm Winter Carnival Free Cocoa Event

      Friday, April 4, 2008                     10 am – 4:30 pm Book Sale
Thursday, April 24, 2008               4 pm FVPL Meeting
Please REPORT any FVPL Book Sale publicity you see or hear to Eloise!
Eloise had the book category table signs the FVPL uses on the tables at the book sale at the meeting.
She noted that they look like they had seen better days, and perhaps we should consider making new ones.
No one was sure who had made the ones we have.  Amy volunteered to make up a few sample new signs to
help us decide what we want to do.
 B.  Book Cart Update
Karen reported that she had refilled the book cart today.
 C.  Econo Slips
       No report.
D.  Art Committee Report
Terry Reynolds had noted in an email message that the FVPL had over-spent our $6,000 art budget.
$6,245 has been spent.  $1,200 was invoiced and paid for the Joyce Koskenmaki painting, which we had
thought was going to be $1,000.  No one at the meeting knew the story behind the $1,200 cost.
 E.  Winter Carnival Hot Chocolate Giveaway and Book/Blanket Sale
We discussed the Winter Carnival Hot Chocolate Giveaway and Book/Blanket Sale.  Don sent a sign-up
sheet around for donations of supplies and cookies and hot cocoa, and sign-up for times to work at this event.
Phyllis should check
with library staff to make sure that three (3) tables will be provided for the giveaway and sale.
Faith will contact
Blue Key to ask that our event be added to whatever Winter Carnival lists of events there will be.
  F.   Erik's request for $2,000 for a photo display in the library
Erik’s request included the following paragraph:
I'd like to request $2,000 to support a semi-permanent photograph display in the public areas of the library adjacent
to the entrance to the archives. Money from the FVPL would join a $500 bequest and $60 in donations from the
archives' staff already assigned to the project.
This request for $2,000 was approved.
 G.  New Business
Faith believes that the FVPL needs to have a discussion about our vision for helping the library.  In what ways
can the FVPL best help the library in its mission?  We will discuss this topic in up-coming meetings.
The meeting adjourned at 4:55 pm.
The next meeting will be Thursday, February 7, 2008 at 4:00 pm.

Submitted by Amy Hughes, January 21, 2008.
