Reception and
Annual Membership Meeting
Patricia Van Pelt of North Wind Books will be the featured speaker at the
Friends Annual Meeting on Thursday, October 16, 1997, from 5 until 6:30pm
at the University Residence (formerly the Tompkins' house). Patricia will
discuss contemporary U.P. literature, a focus of her bookstore in Eagle
Harbor. North Wind Books specializes in publications of interest to our
community, featuring high-quality books that are often not widely available.
Home-made refreshments will be served.
In addition, there will be a brief business meeting. The board
proposes the following board members for three-year terms: June Hawthorne,

With this meeting we say good-bye to Nancy Fisher, who has decided not
to continue on the board. Nancy has been our treasurer since our founding,
and has spearheaded some of our successful fund-raising projects, such
as the MTU blanket and the notecards. Thank you, Nancy, for all your hard
work. We'll miss you!
