Board Approves New Grant Program
In keeping with its mission to support and promote the Van Pelt Library and its collections, the Board of Directors of the Friends of the Van Pelt Library voted at its December meeting to establish a new Local History Grant Program to support projects by non-profit organizations that use the MTU Archives and Copper Country Historical Collection. This grant program administered by the same committee that administers the current Friends Travel Grant Program, will have a $250 budget and will
support local history projects such as the production of brochures or walking-tour maps.  The Friends Travel Grant Committee consists of University Archivist  Eric Norberg, Social Sciences Professor Larry Lankton, and Friends Board Member and retired MTU Humanities Professor George Love.  Anyone interested in more information about these grant programs should contact Erik Nordberg (enordber@mtu.edu; 487-2505).
