Churros (from the internet; modified by FAM) 2 January 2015
If ever in Manila, try Churros Con Chocolate at Dulcinea.  There are many branches.  Tom makes the chocolate from tabletas.

1 Cup water

2 1/2 Tablespoons sugar

1/2 teaspoon salt

2 Tablespoons vegetable oil or butter

1 Cup All-purpose flour

Boil water, sugar, salt, oil.  Remove from heat and dump all at once the flour, mixing until it forms a smooth mass.  Load into pastry gun (for making cookies, a cookie press) and expel into hot oil.  Fry until golden brown.  Dip in dipping chocolate.
