Unit Operations Laboratory Virtual Tour
Michigan Tech has a one-of-a-kind learning laboratory of industrial equipment items (called unit operations) used by chemical engineers to change raw materials into marketable products.
A specific sequence of unit operations is called a "process". In the Unit Operations Lab, our students learn to operate processes as well as stand-alone unit operations. Developing safety awareness is integral to this lab experience.
The Unit Operations Lab is a senior-level “capstone” learning opportunity. Students integrate concepts from prior coursework into a working understanding of the practice of chemical engineering. The result? A chemical engineer who is well-grounded in the applied science of chemical engineering and is able to contribute immediately in industry.
