The principles of operation of four common flow measurement technologies are studied – Magnetic Flow meter, Integral Flow Orifice Assembly, Vortex meter, and Coriolis Effect mass flow meter. The mass flow meter is used to calibrate the other three flow meters. After collecting data over a wide range of flow, comparisons are made to determine meter accuracy and precision, permanent losses, and range-ability.
In the second half of this experiment two control valves with the same trim size but different trim characteristics are compared. Response curves are developed for each valve and compared under different flow conditions.
