Faith Morrison, Associate Professor of
Chemical Engineering at MTU, has been
elected Vice President of the Society of
Rheology. The Society of Rheology
(SOR) www.rheology.org) is the international

coined in the 1920's, and The Society of
Rheology was officially formed in 1929.
The Society o f R h e o l o g y
(www.rheology.org) is one of the five
founding members of the American Institute
of Physics. Morrison will serve as
SOR Vice President for two years and
will be a voting member of the SOR
Executive Committee. By custom she
will ascend to the Presidency of the Society
of Rheology in 2009. Morrison has
been a member of the Society of Rheology
since 1988 and has served as editor of
the Rheology Bulletin, chair of the SOR
Membership Committee, and chair of the
SOR Constitutional Reform Committee.
Morrison, who has been at MTU since
1990, has written a textbook on rheology
called “Understanding Rheology”
(Oxford University Press, 2001).
“It is a great honor to have Faith elected
to this position, and the Society of Rheology
is fortunate to have her as their vice
