INTRODUCTION

Michigan Tech is located in the beautiful Keweenaw peninsula of upper Michigan, in an area with a rich history of copper mining dating from the late 1800's to the early 1900's.

From our start in the late 1800's as a mining school, Michigan Tech has grown into a world class university for the 21st century specializing in engineering, science, and technology. The MTU Department of Chemical Engineering is an ABET accredited program granting Bachelor's, Master's, and Doctoral degrees. The department is active in graduate research with collaborations in industry, academia and government.
