The general education classes are split into two categories: Core Courses (13 credits) and Distribution Courses (15 credits), for a total of 28 credits of general education classes.
The following classes are required gen ed core courses.
- UN1001 - Perspectives (3 credits)
- UN1002 - World Cultures (4 credits)
- UN2001 - Revisions (3 credits)
- UN2002 - Institutions (3 credits)
The gen ed core classes are intended to be taken during your first and second years, according to the following schedule:
- Fall freshman year – UN1001
- Spring freshman year – UN1002 or UN1003 (see language substitution below)
- Fall sophomore year – UN2001 or UN2002
- Spring sophomore year – UN2002 or UN2001

Foreign Language Substitution for World Cultures
As an option, you can take two semesters of a foreign language (6 credits) and UN1003 (1 credit) to substitute for UN1002 and 3 credits of distribution course requirements. To complete this substitution, UN1003 and one language class needs to be taken during spring semester of your freshman year.
