Chairman Amy Hughes presided. Faith Morrison agreed to take the
minutes.
The minutes of the February 5, 2009
meeting were reviewed and approved.
Treasurer Terry Reynolds presented the treasurer’s report. The
total in the accounts as of 3/1/2009 was $19,215.74. Book cart sales
was greater than $380 since the start of the academic year. The
treasurer's report was
reviewed and passed.
Eloise Haller reviewed the status of the 2009 book sale. The
following items were decided:
1. Dana agreed to be in
charge of setup and asking Facilities to move the books from the
Library to the MUB.
2. Faith agreed to sell
memberships at the door of the presale.
3. Amy agreed to contact
the MTU recycling group to arrange for disposal of worn/unsellable
books.
4. Karen as tasked
(Patricia will notify her) with inviting the local librarians to come
to the sale; Patricia will bring posters to Karen to post in those
locations and around Hancock.
5. Patricia will post
posters in Calumet art galleries.
6. Dick will hang
posters in Chassell.
7. Eloise will hang
posters in Houghton.
8. Amy agreed to make a
sign for the map cart.
9. Publicity was
discussed; various people agreed to do parts of the publicity.
10. All board members
were asked to bring paper bags to the Library for the sale.
11. Deb agreed to ask
the MUB to provide water for the hours of setup on the day of the
presale.
The board discussed dates for the 2010 sale and agreed to April 8/9
2010. Amy will log-on to the MTU system and reserve the MUB for
these dates.
A work bee will be needed and has been scheduled for Thursday 19 March 2-4.
Don reported on the Winter Carnival Book Sale/Hot Chocolate event; it
was a success! The FVPL took in $281 in sales and memberships;
more than 300 people stopped by.
Faith will put together a March newsletter
and will contact those whose help she needs.
Patricia showed the board adhesive fabric labels that she suggests for
the FVPL art collection in the Library. They are repositionable;
they are made in Hancock at the Ladybug printers.
The next board meeting is Thursday 2 April 2009.
