The minutes of the September 5, 2002 meeting were reviewed.
The treasurer’s report was not presented at the meeting. (Terry Reynolds emailed the September 2002 treasurer’s report to the FVPL email list on Friday, October 4, 2002). We discussed the discussion items from the August treasurer’s report.
The Annual Meeting will be in the MTU Archives on Tuesday, October 29 at 4:00 pm. Our speaker will be Eric Nordberg, and his topic is "Regional Historical Archives: A Symbiosis of Collections and Community".
The Campus Wide Open house will be on Saturday, October 19, 2002 from noon until 4 pm. George Love volunteered to help out at the open house.
We had a very good turnout for the book sorting, pricing, and boxing work bee on Oct 2, 2002. We had an EXCELLENT turn-out from Tau Beta Pi which included Erin Kehoe, Greg Mikowski, Mike Miller, Darby VanAntwerp, Laurel English, Deirdre Johns, Greg Leitheiser, William Ulrich, Kristin Harvey, and others.
We discussed Erik Nordberg’s request to add the $300 in travel grant money which was not awarded last year to this year’s allocation of $300 for a total amount of $600 to be awarded this year. Karen Hubbard moved and Faith Morrison seconded allocating $600 for travel grant money for this year. The motion passed.
Faith Morrison encouraged the board to think about a new big goal or project that we can start working on. Phyllis Johnson told us about the idea of having some kind of Information Wall in the library that would continually show campus, state, and world-wide information – something like CNN.
