Society of Intellectual Sisters


The members of the Society of Intellectual Sisters work together in a variety of ways to fulfill their mission and goals. The committees described below can give you an idea of how you might become involved with S.I.S.

Communications Committee

The Communication Committee distributes information within the organization as well as beyond the group. This committee is responsible for distributing flyers, posters, e-mails and other media to advertise the activities of the organization.


Fundraising and Social Committee

The Fundraising and Social Committee plans fundraisers throughout the year to keep the organization financially sound. This committee is also in charge of planning all social activities within the organization as well as social outreach programs such as socials and informational meetings.

Membership Committee

The Membership Committee promotes the organization and acts as a liaison between prospective members and the organization.


Service Committee

The Service Committee plans and researches potential service projects. This committee also provides information and acts as a liaison for annual service projects such as Jump Rope For Heart (sponsored by AHA) and Math + Science=Choices (sponsored by Educational Opportunity).

 

Academic Committee

The Academic Committee is responsible for study session attendance, reviewing semester grades of S.I.S. members, reporting to the Executive Board if a member does not meet Article III.3 of the Constitution and coordinates study sessions for the organization.

Special Programs Committee

The Special Programs Committee plans and organizes all activities not directly related to the other committees such as Women's Month activities, retreats, Bible studies, etc.
