J. ROBERT VAN PELT LIBRARY The J.
Robert Van Pelt Library has been completely remodeled in a major
construction project. The library holds over 750,000 volumes, including
a large number of US government documents. The Michigan Tech Library
is the oldest selective depository for US Government documents in the
country, having been established in 1876. The Van Pelt Library is also
the home of the Michigan Tech Archives and the Copper Country Historical
Collections, a unique collection of records from the earliest European
settlement of the Keweenaw Peninsula, housing one-of-a-kind mining records
that date back to the 1800s. |
